This is Nuts

As you know by now, Jamie is fastidious about keeping the weight of his pack down as low as he possibly can. From the chunks of deodorant in a ziplock rather than carrying the original packaging to the tiny little dots of dried toothpaste he uses... Excess weight is no bueno. Sometimes this results in a box being returned to the Home Office with things deemed unnecessary weight. It might be some kind of gear that isn't really working for him, extra meals due to him eating town food, or who knows what.

He usually gives me a heads up that he's sending something, and he did just that recently when I was out of town. I didn't give it another thought until the great Grace came by the house in my absence and reported that there was a box on the porch that was all torn up.

Hmm. Well, I've seen some poorly handled packages before, so I know it happens, but this was a little more than one might expect.

Well, HOW did this happen?!?! Let take a closer look.

Now, I don't know exactly what might have been in there but I'm pretty sure it was some kind of nutty snack. We have a lot of critters in our neighborhood, to be sure, and there are a few likely suspects. In general, I'm not a fan of the wildlife encroaching on personal space, but I'm a live-and-let live sort. The porch is a little bit of a gray area, somewhere in between "my space" and the great outdoors. We try to co-exist peacefully.

What could it be? Chipmunks? I'll give them a pass (they're cute). The bunnies that seem to think they're now our pets since there are no dogs in the yard patrolling for intruders? No way. Too skittish. It can't be racoons. They're so crafty, they probably would have taken it all, left a thank you note, and put the box in the recycle bin when they finished!

I think the most likely suspect is this guy:

Oh, well... let's just call it "Trail Magic" and be happy for him!

That’s seem like a lot of “send back” food! He’s either found some good diners in the desolate southwest or weight 98lbs! At least the bag of pink drink means the cramping has improved! It’s definitely squirrels!
